When planning your trip to Vietnam, it's important to consider the length of your stay and the places you want to visit. A typical plan for a one-week trip to Vietnam might include stops in Hanoi, Halong Bay, Da-Nang, and Ho Chi Minh City. Each destination offers a unique glimpse into Vietnam's history, culture, and natural beauty. We provided a detailed travel plan for a 7-day trip covering the best and unexplored places in Vietnam.

Day 1

Land at Ho CHI MINH and the immigration process is quite easy. Once you complete your immigration, you can book a sim through the Klook app.
Book a cab to your hotel through Grab (It is more economical than a local cab). Cab drivers will accept dollars. Make sure you paid the amount shown in the Grab app
Take a rest for some time. Rent a scooter, which will cost you around 500 INR per bike (Always carry your raincoat with you).

  1. Ben Thanh Market
  2. It is one of the cheapest markets in Ho Chi Minh. You can witness the local clothes, accessories, electronics, and food items at an affordable rate.

  3. War Remnants Museum
  4. The War Remnants Museum has evidence of the struggle for the Vietnam and First Indochina wars. It includes artifacts, photographs, military equipment, etc.

  5. Saigon Central Post Office
  6. The Saigon post office has a unique classical architecture that every traveler should experience

  7. Bui Vien Walking street
  8. End your day by relaxing at Bui Vien walking street. It provides plenty of bars and is very similar to Thailand's walking street. You can find many Indian restaurants.

Day 2

  1. Cu Chi Tunnel
  2. The Cu Chi Tunnel is 50 KM away from Ho Chi Minh. The roads are good but if you start early, you can skip miserable traffic, and crowds and have a smooth road trip.
    You can explore the narrow tunnel which will be a thrilling experience that each traveler should not miss.

    • Location: Cu Chi Tunnel
    • Time to visit: 7:00 AM - 5:00 PM
    • Entry: 3000 INR
  3. Cu Chi Shooting
  4. The Cu Chi shooting will provide you the opportunity to fire several guns you wish to shoot( AK-47, M-15 )

  5. Mariamman Hindu Temple
  6. Head Back to Ho Chi Minh City and visit the historic ancient Mariamman Hindu temple. Palaniappa Thevar from Pattukkottai, Tamilnadu built this temple.

  7. Saigon River sidewalk
  8. End your day with a pleasant walk in the Saigon River and try the famous Vietnamese coffee shop - "The Workshop Coffee".

Note:

If you have one more day then visit the Mekong Delta. It is one of the must-visit places in Ho Chi Minh which is 170 KM away. You can reach there by rental scooter or you can book a day tour from Ho Chi Minh (Price starts from 2000 INR).
The Mekong Delta day tour package includes all the ventures in the Mekong Delta.

Day 3

Ho Chi Minh - Da Nang (1000 KM)
Da Nang is a coastal city in central Vietnam known for its sandy beaches and French colonial port. You can either travel by road/railway or by flight.
I have listed the approximate fare price for transportation.

  • Airways: 3000-6000 INR (time saving)
  • Roadways: 1500 INR (15-20 hrs)
  • Railways: 2000 INR based on the class which you book (15 -20 hrs)

  1. Lady Buddha(Linh Ung Pagoda)
  2. Lady Buddha is one of the must-visit places in Da-Nang. It is a large statue that denotes the Bodhisattva of Mercy, which is approximately 9 km from My Khe beach. The statute's height approximates 67m and the lotus's diameter is 35m.

  3. My Khe Beach
  4. Da Nang is popular for its lovely beaches. Among that, My Khe beach is the must-visit beach where you can do plenty of water sports. The best way to travel within the bounds of Da-Nang is to rent a Scooter.
    End your day and Chill out at the restaurants or bars near My Khe Beach.

Day 4

  1. Sun World, Ba Na Hills
  2. Da-Nang is well-known for its famous sunworld Ba Na Hills. Any travelers who travel to Da-Nang, must-see Ba Na Hills, A hilltop amusement park.

    You can rent a bike to reach the destination which is a good option. You can also book a Day tour through the Klook app and they will pick you up and drop you at your doorstep.

    It is 8 km away from Da-Nang city. In Sun World, you can witness the glorious Hand Bridge, pagoda (Buddhist temple), and the most adorable French village. You can also enjoy the French cuisine and ambiance.

    Note:

    If you need to take a quality picture without people's disturbance, Reach Sun World as early as possible. If you need to enjoy the night light show, night stays are available at a bit expensive.

  3. Marble Mountains
  4. The Marble Mountain is another must-visit place in Da-Nang, which has Buddhist temples carved between the rocks. The mountain peaks will provide you with a spectacular view of Da-Nang City which is worth visiting.

  5. Dragon Bridge
  6. The Dragon Bridge is one of the exclusive bridges in Da-Nang. On weekends, you can witness the fire show at 9 PM.

  7. Son Tra Night Market
  8. After visiting Dragon Bridge, head to Son Tra Night market where you can try local food. End your day by sightseeing in the night market and Dragon Bridge.

    Tip:

    If you have extra days, you must visit Hoi An, a historic and ancient city in Vietnam. You get exposure to the vibrant culture of classical Vietnamese

Day 5

Pack your baggage and It's time to reach a new destination Hanoi. Hanoi, the capital city of Vietnam, holds 1000 years old history and a rich cultural heritage of Vietnam. Da-Nang to Hanoi covers 800 KM and I have listed the approximate fare price for transportation.

  • Airways: 3000-6000 INR (time saving)
  • Roadways: 1500 INR (15-20 hrs)
  • Railways: 2000 INR based on the class which you book (15 -20 hrs)

  1. Old Quarter
  2. Old Quarter is a commercial hub covering 36 streets and each street is known for its different products. To reach the destination, you can charter a Scooter. Each street has nearly 40 street shops selling native artifacts and regional street foods

    • Location: Old Quarter
    • Time to visit: 24 Hrs
    • Entry: free
  3. Tran Quoc Pagoda
  4. The Tran Quoc Pagoda, a Hindu Buddhist temple in the Center of Hanoi is a perfect picture spot for travelers

    • Location: Tran Quoc Pagoda
    • Time to visit: 7:30 AM- 11:30 AM
      1:30 PM- 5:30 PM
    • Entry: Free
  5. Hanoi train Street
  6. Hanoi Train Street is one of the indispensable places in Hanoi where train passes through streets. You can enjoy the view with a cup of coffee. To mention, you must try their "Egg Coffee" and also you can try their beer, shakes, tea, etc. You can end your day at the best cafes or bars here.

    Note (Scam Alert):

    Be aware of locals, They block you at the entrance and ask you to try their food in the cafe. Only then, you will be able to enter the train street otherwise they won't.
    You can buy egg coffee and stay until the train arrives. Otherwise, you can walk a little bit and find an entry without a barricade.

    • Location: Hanoi train Street
    • Time to visit: 24 Hrs
    • Entry: Free
    • Hanoi Train Street Train Timings: 8:30 AM, 11:30 AM, 3:30 PM, 7:12 PM, 7:20 PM, 7:50 PM.

Day 6 (Ninh Binh)

Ninh Binh is a small town located in northern Vietnam, located 100 KM away from Hanoi. For economical travel, you can rent a bike. Otherwise, you can book a day tour from Hanoi
The Must-visit places in Ninh Binh are Trang An & Mua Cave. The cost depends upon the season of your trip and your bargaining skills. For the day tour, you can book through Klook or your hotel. You can compare two prices and book

Note:

If you are going with family or a group of friends, a Day tour is advisable. Otherwise, you can prefer a Scooter. Make sure you are traveling on a bike route because most roads are only for four-wheelers

  1. Trang An
  2. The Trang An is one of the places in Ninh Binh that can't be ignored. Its scenic landscape, Water caves, Flora & Fauna attracts the tourist. It is the 8th UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site in Vietnam. It has many routes to explore through boats and you can choose any one of the routes.

    • Location: Trang An
    • Time to visit: 7:00 AM - 4:30 PM
    • Entry: 830 INR/per person
  3. Mua Cave
  4. Mua Cave is another unmissable place in Ninh Binh, located inside Ngoa Long Mountain. It is the perfect spot for the Instagram posts. To reach the mountain top, you need to climb 500 stone steps, not that difficult but it's worth the hype.

    Note:

    While climbing, Carry a water bottle with you, and not advisable for Aged people

    • Location: Old Quarter
    • Time to visit: 6:00 AM - 7:00 PM
    • Entry: 3320 INR/Per person.

End your Day with a good sleep & Don't forget to book your day tour for Halong Bay for the next day

Day 7 (Halong Bay)

Halong Bay is 180 KM away from Hanoi. Most travelers visit Hanoi only in Halong Bay because of its serene landscapes.

You can either book a day tour through Klook or by local people. Either way is the best to book Halong Bay. Individual booking is not advisable as it will be hard to find the best cruise

In Halong Bay, you can spend a day visiting the popular Thien Cung cave, Hon Dinh Huong, Kayaking, and swimming on the beaches. In the evening, you can enjoy the unrealistic sunset from the cruise with a Cup of tea (Don't Miss).

  • Location: Halong Bay
  • Time to visit: 7:00 AM- 5:00 PM(Day Trip)
  • Entry: 4000 INR/Per person (Inclusion of transport, Cruise, Food, Kayaking, and Sightseeing)

In the fullness of time, Chill out at any of the cafes, take a walk through the streets, and enjoy the moments

Note:

If you have extra days in your Plan then you should visit Ban Gioc Waterfalls which is the perfect picture spot
